The Butterfield Select Fund was established as an open-ended investment company under the laws of Bermuda on 31 January 2000. The principal objective of the Fund is to achieve long-term capital growth in the value of assets.

For the Alternative Investment Class, the policy is to invest with professional money managers who invest in common and preferred stocks (including small cap stocks), options, warrants, convertible securities, bonds, foreign securities, foreign currencies, commodities, commodity futures, financial futures, derivatives, mortgage backed amd mortgage releated securities, real estate and other assets of investment grade or below investment grade. The Investment Adviser will attempt to minimise the riks involved in the Fund's investment by selecting money managers who utilise strategies such as hedged investing and by diversification. The Alternative Investment Class may also hold money market instruments or mutual funds including the Butterfield Money Market Fund for cash management purposes.
