Robert Steinhoff Elected To Bank Of Butterfield Board Of Directors

Hamilton, Bermuda: 16 January 2004 - Bank of Butterfield today announced that Robert Steinhoff was elected to the Board of Directors, effective 16 January 2004. In welcoming him to the Board, Chairman Dr. James King remarked on Mr. Steinhoff's record of professional expertise and accomplishment. Mr. Steinhoff is a former Senior Partner of KPMG and Butterfield & Steinhoff and Chairman of the Insurance Advisory Committee.

Mr. Steinhoff was elected to fill the vacancy left by Christopher (Kit) Astwood, who was elected to Bank of Butterfield's Board of Directors on 17 June 1969 and stepped down on 15 January this year, having reached the mandatory retirement age. Dr. King acknowledged Mr. Astwood's valuable guidance and dedication over the more than three decades he served on the Board. Mr. Astwood is the Chairman of J.B. Astwood & Son Ltd.
