Bank Of Butterfield Amends & Corrects August Share Buyback Report

Hamilton, Bermuda: 8 September 2004 - The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) has today been advised on the following correction to the previous announcement of the Bank's share buyback during August.

In August 2004 Butterfield Bank acquired a total of 61,248 of its own shares at an average price of BD$40.93 under the share repurchase programme announced January 5, 2000. This is the total number of shares repurchased and cancelled.
