Tyco International Senior Litigation Counsel Promoted To Vice President And Corporate Secretary

PEMBROKE, Bermuda: April 12, 2005 - Tyco International (NYSE: TYC; BSX:TYC) today announced that John S. Jenkins, Jr., currently the company's senior litigation counsel, has been promoted to vice president and corporate secretary. In his new role, Jenkins will report to William B. Lytton, Tyco executive vice president and general counsel

 

As Tyco's corporate secretary, Jenkins will play a key role in coordinating various projects with the company's board of directors.  Jenkins will also be responsible for coordinating and managing Tyco's annual shareholders meeting, securities filings, treasury support and related corporate practices.

 

Lytton said, "John is already a strong member of Tyco's legal team, and I know that he will bring his considerable talent and energies to this new position.  His work with Tyco's board of directors will form a valuable part of the company's continued focus on financial strength and operational excellence.  We are pleased to have him on the team and look forward to working with him in this new capacity."  

 

Jenkins joined Tyco in June 2003 as senior litigation counsel.  Prior to joining Tyco, Jenkins was a litigation associate for McGuireWoods and for Hogan & Hartson.  Jenkins also served 13 years as an officer in the U.S. Navy's office of the judge advocate general -- culminating as legislative counsel to the secretary of the Navy.

 

Jenkins holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia and his Juris Doctor from George Washington University Law School.
