Tsakos Energy Navigation Reports No Pollution Or Injuries To Personnel In Double-Hull Aframax Incident At Sea

Athens, Greece - February 9, 2007 - Tsakos Energy Navigation Ltd. ("TEN") (NYSE:TNP, BSX:TEN.BH) today announced that it's 2006-built double-hull and 1A ice-class strengthened Aframax tanker Propontis "touched bottom" while maneuvering off Primorsk Pilot station at 23.45 Northern European time on February 8th, 2007. The vessel sailed under it's own power to anchorage for further inspections by appropriate authorities. No pollution of any kind or injury to personnel has occurred and the vessel has full structural integrity.

TEN's technical manager, Tsakos Shipping & Trading, S.A. has already sent a team of experts to the site while the vessel's charterer is being kept informed of all proceedings.

TEN's proforma fleet consists of 51 vessels of 5.4 million dwt. Today, TEN operates a fleet of 37 vessels all double-hull. Additionally, its newbuilding program has 14 vessels including six Aframax crude carriers, one Suezmax, two Panamax tankers, four Handysize product carriers, and one LNG representing 1.2 million dwt.
