PartnerRe Ltd. Reports Second Quarter and Half Year 2013 Results

Hamilton, Bermuda: 29 July 2013 - PartnerRe Ltd. (NYSE: PRE) today reported a net loss of $175.6 million, or $3.37 per share for the second quarter of 2013. This includes net after-tax realized and unrealized losses on investments of $230.0 million, or $4.07 per share. Net income for the second quarter of 2012 was $176.1 million, or $2.50 per share, including net after-tax realized and unrealized gains on investments of $18.3 million, or $0.29 per share. The Company recorded operating earnings of $51.1 million, or $0.90 per share, for the second quarter of 2013. This compares to operating earnings of $142.0 million, or $2.20 per share, for the second quarter of 2012.
