STAPLES HOLDINGS LIMITED NAMES NEW CFO

Hamilton - June 17, 1997. Staples Holdings Limited announced today that Mr. William Bedard has been named Chief Financial Officer of the Company. Mr. Bedard has over 20 years experience in senior level management and finance positions, most recently as President of a Florida consulting company specialising in finance, sales, marketing and strategic planning. His previous positions include President of Fort Lauderdale College, Division Controller with Exxon USA, Strategic Planning Manager of American Woodmark Corporation, a cabinet manufacturer with annual sales of $160 million, and Controller for a building products manufacturer with annual sales of $60 million.

"We are tremendously gratified that we were able to attract someone with Mr. Bedard's credentials," said SHL Chairman, Mr. William J. Midon. "Our operating companies, Staples Limited and Atlantic Medical International Ltd., are poised to enter a new level of business development, and having the depth of knowledge and experience which Mr. Bedard brings to the company will greatly enhance our senior management team."

Staples Limited is an office supply and equipment sales company. Atlantic Medical International Ltd. provides medical supplies and equipment to Bermuda's health care community.
