The five companies have each been granted a secondary listing on The BSX for all of their ordinary shares in issue. The primary listings for the group are currently on The London Stock Exchange. The first day of dealings on The BSX is today, 15 February 1996.
Mr Harry Wilken, secretary of the above Jardine Group companies, stated that "A secondary listing on The BSX complements our choice of Bermuda as the domicile of incorporation for these five public companies, which have their primary listings on the London Stock Exchange."

The introduction of these five Jardine Group companies will increase the market capitalisation of The BSX by over $17 billion. The Bermuda Stock Exchange has recently implemented a new strategic plan and intends to become the world's first truly international, offshore securities market. The new international listing regulations were introduced in November 1995 and facilitate the secondary listings of international companies such as the Jardine Group companies. Bermuda is the domicile of choice for over 260 publicly listed companies which have significant business interests in Hong Kong and the People's Republic of China. With a twelve hour time difference between Bermuda and most of Asia there is the potential for The BSX to provide an additional trading forum for such companies when the Asian markets are closed.
