Mark Belnick To Join Tyco International

Hamilton, Bermuda, August 25th , 1998 - Tyco International Ltd. (NYSE-TYC, LSE-TYI, BSX-TYC), announced that Mark A. Belnick has joined Tyco as Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Counsel. Mark Belnick will become a member of senior management as Tyco's chief legal officer and will report to L. Dennis Kozlowski, Tyco Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

"We are extremely pleased that Mark has agreed to join Tyco, " said Mr. Kozlowski. "Mark has broad experience as a senior advisor to major corporations on a variety of significant issues. I have no doubt we will benefit greatly from his judgement and experience to make Tyco an even stronger creator of shareholder value."

Mr. Belnick is a senior partner at the internationally renowned law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. A fellow of the American College of Trail Lawyers, Mr. Belnick has extensive corporate counseling experience, including M&A transactions, antitrust and other corporate matters. His clients have included Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corporation, Merrill Lynch, the NASD, Woolworth Corporation, American Express Company, Smith Barney, Inc., Morgan Stanley & Co. Inc., Pennzoil, Reliance Industries and H.J. Heinz.

Mr. Belnick served in 1995 as Chief Councel to the NASD Select Committee, leading a review, which produced a major reorganization of the NASD and the Nasdaq Stock Market. In 1887 Mr. Belnick served as Deputy Chief Councel to the United States senate Iran-Contra Committee. He is also a member of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure Committee of the American College of Trail Lawyers, the litigation sections of the New York State and American Bar Associations and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.

Mr. Belnick, 51, received the A.B. degree, cum laude, from Cornell University in 1968, and the J.D. in 1971 from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar.
