Global Crossing Accelerates Subsea Cable Construction

Hamiton, Bermuda: 14 March, 2000 - In response to the recent Republic of China government action that will allow foreign companies to land cables there, Asia Global Crossing, a Global Crossing Ltd. company, announced today that it has accelerated its subsea construction schedule to land a fiber optic cable in Taiwan by year-end 2000.

Asia Global Crossing, a joint venture among Global Crossing,Microsoft, and Softbank Corp., is accelerating construction plans of its East Asia Crossing, a 2.5 terabit subsea fiber optic system

designed to bring unprecedented broadband apacity to East and Southeast Asia, and link the region to the worldwide Global Crossing

Network.

"Our global strategy is to link all of the world's major business centers on one single network. Asia Global Crossing is building the

preeminent system for the Asia Pacific region, and we are extremely pleased by the government's decision that will allow us to land a cable and make Taiwan part of the seamless worldwide network," said John Legere, Asia Global Crossing CEO.

"Rapid deployment of East Asia Crossing brings increased access to Taiwan and gives Taiwan unprecedented access to the world. This access
