The directors of The China Heartland Fund Limited announce that effective 31 March, 2000 the Fund became open-ended with monthly dealing on the last Thursday of each month with the first dealing day being Friday, 31st March 2000. Redemption requests totaling approximately 18% of the outstanding shares of the Fund have been received. In accordance with the bye-laws of the Fund, and as documented in the December 1999 circular to shareholders, the directors have determined to process half of these redemptions at the 31st March 2000 dealing day with the balance to be processed on the following dealing day of Thursday, 27th April 2000. These redemption requests will be given priority over subsequent redemption requests.
