EarthPort.com Responds To Article

Hamilton, Bermuda: 8 May, 2000 - In a statement issued to the Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) today Earthport.com stated "It has come to the Directors' attention that an article in the press dated Wednesday 3 May 2000, suggests that EarthPort €˜uses voice-recognition technology to keep transactions secure. The EarthPort system avoids users having to rely on PIN numbers to access accounts over next-generation WAP mobile phones. The company says its voice-activated software will give e-shoppers vital security.'

As stated in our announcement of 14 April 2000:

EarthPort.com has licensed the voice identification technology, TESPAR (Time Encoded Signal Processing and Recognition), from Domain Dynamics, the voice authentication and signal processing specialist. Using TESPAR, EarthPort plans to enable users to access their EarthPort account via PC terminals, WAP-enabled mobile phones and other digital devices using their own voice as an extra security measure.

The system known as voice key encryption (VKE) avoids users having to memorise PIN numbers and passwords. Instead, the user's identity is verified during a simple dialogue that can take place while making the transaction. PIN

numbers and passwords can be retained as an added security layer.

This is an accurate summary of the present situation."
