Conexys Acquires South Africa-Based 17inch.com

Toronto, Canada: 11 September 2000 - Conexys Corporation Limited (BSX: CXYS.BH), an emerging Web-based, carrier-grade communication services provider, today announced that it has signed a deal to acquire 17inch.com, a full-service, Web-based business marketing and consulting company based in Cape Town, South Africa.

Upon completion of this acquisition, Conexys will leverage 17inch.com's expertise in new media and electronic culture to accelerate the Company's goal of becoming the world-leading communication services provider. In addition, Conexys will provide complete communications solutions that will deliver new revenue and profit streams to Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and telecommunications companies. In turn, 17inch.com, under the Conexys name, will be the first total Unified Messaging (UM) provider in South Africa.

"17inch.com exemplifies how South Africa is rapidly becoming a leading global force in New Media companies," says Edward Furtak, CEO and founder of Conexys. "This young, dynamic group of professionals share our passion to explore and execute fresh, creative ideas. 17inch.com will complement the strength of our Canadian R&D efforts and drive Conexys to meet our goal of being the industry-leading communication service provider worldwide."

In 1997, Canada performed Cdn$865 million in trade with South Africa, and since 1996, trade between the two countries has grown by a net 26 per cent. With the purchase of 17inch.com, Conexys is taking advantage of the new trading relationships and opportunities that have grown between Canada and South Africa over recent years.

In the near future, Conexys will establish its presence in South Africa by installing a point-of-presence (POP) that will provide local access to the Internet.

Currently, 17inch.com delivers creative new media and innovative digital communication solutions, including online branding solutions, new media marketing presentations, interactive product demonstrations, Web-based information systems, and B2B and B2C commerce solutions, that enable clients to benefit from the New Economy.
