"This agreement strengthens the LIGHTRAY MPX„¢ interconnection system as a solution for the increased demand for system-level packaging, and the multiple source requirements of the communications marketplace", said Glenn Moore, vice president, Fiber Optic Group of Tyco Electronics. "We are pleased to add The Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. as a licensee for this product, based upon their expertise in fiber optics and MT ferrule technologies. Furukawa Electric joins the growing family of leading MT ferrule suppliers who have licensed the LIGHTRAY MPX interconnection system to better ensure increased future success for the product," he added.
The LIGHTRAY MPX interconnection system is primarily designed for blindmate backplane applications and other dense fiber-to-fiber interconnect applications. It also serves stand-alone interconnections requiring bulkhead porting. The LIGHTRAY MPX interconnection system includes product and accessories in a wide variety of configurations, making it ideal for customized requirements and solutions. At the center of the system is the LIGHTRAY MPX array connector, which incorporates the field-proven MT ferrule technology. LIGHTRAY MPX interconnection assemblies feature the use of miniature multi-fiber array connectors, which hold up to 24 Single- or Multi-mode fibers on 250 micron centers using a single glass filled polymer ferrule. A full line of adapters, in-situ cleaning tools, dust covers, and test kits are available to compliment the basic product line.
