Jardine Matheson Announces Results of Annual General Meeting

Hamilton, Bermuda: 17th May 2001 - Jardine Matheson Holdings Limited today announced that the members' resolutions proposed at the Company's Annual General Meeting held earlier today did not receive the required majority and were not approved. The ordinary business of the meeting was approved.

"Shareholders have again rejected resolutions which sought to undermine the stability of the Group and which the Board believed were not in the best interests of shareholders," said Managing Director, Percy Weatherall. "We shall continue to focus our efforts on creating value for all our shareholders through the development of our excellent portfolio of businesses."

A separate announcement was made earlier today of the statement made at the meeting by the Chairman, Henry Keswick.
