BSX To Offer Series 7 Exam In April

Hamilton, Bermuda: 5 February 2002€” The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) can confirm that it will be hosting a Series 7 examination in Bermuda 19th April 2002.

In making the announcements BSX Corporate Communications Manager Joanne MacPhee noted, "The Bermuda Stock Exchange is once again extending an invitation to the general public to register for the Series 7 exam in Bermuda."

The Series 7 exam is run by the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) and is viewed as a benchmark qualification for any one interested in pursuing a career in the investment industry.

The BSX became actively involved in Series 7 back in 1998 when, after a year of negotiations, the NASD granted the Exchange permission to act as exam sponsors in Bermuda and permitted them to €˜hold' the Series 7 licenses, a privileged usually reserved for NASD Member firms only. Since that time the BSX has offered the exam on a regular basis in Bermuda.

Mrs., MacPhee notes, "The BSX sees this as yet another opportunity to support the local investment community and to help maintain, develop and improve industry standards. In this regard it is a perfect fit for the BSX!"
