The Bank Of Bermuda Opens Scotland IT Unit

Hamilton, Bermuda, 2nd July, 1998 - The Bank of Bermuda announced today that it will be opening a third information technology (IT) support office in Scotland by August 1998.

Application programming, technical services and telecommunications professionals will operate from the Scotland IT unit, which will complement the existing IT units in Bermuda and Hong Kong, in providing a balanced 24-hour global IT delivery structure.

Details are still being finalised over the exact location of the office. That decision will be made pending a successful conclusion of negotiations.

Peter Le Noury, Executive Vice president, systems & Operations, at The Bank of Bermuda said: "As a growing international organisation, I am delighted that we will be better able to serve our international clients from all over the globe, providing greater efficiency for our existing round the clock service.

"We have chosen the Scotland area as our European IT hub as it has a strong IT infrastructure and has an excellent track-record of providing an associated pool of highly qualified IT professionals.

"We anticipate that our Scotland IT unit will create career opportunities for existing staff, and expect several transfer requests from our Bermuda, Hong Kong and London offices," Mr. Le Noury concluded. Approximately 80 - 100 staff will be based at the Scotland unit within a year of opening.

The Scotland IT unit will open by august 1998, and will be fully operational by summer 1999.
