Commenting on the appointments, Henry Smith, CEO of the Bank, stated, "These appointments to the Executive represent the further evolution of the Bank's management structure to one based on a global operating model. I am very pleased that the Bank has now reached the point where all its businesses and support divisions have at their head very experienced individuals with global responsibilities. This will enable us to continue to improve our efficiency and our ability to provide world class products and services to our global client base."
Seven of those newly appointed are heads of global support divisions of the Bank: Audit, Corporate Communications, Financial Reporting, Investor Relations, Premises and Corporate Management, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary. The Managing Directors of two key jurisdictional offices, Hong Kong and Dublin, were also appointed.

Jeanne Atherden, Head of Premises and Corporate Management. Prior to her present role, Mrs. Atherden, a Bermudian, was Vice President and Director of Business Management in the Bank's Investment division. Before joining the Bank in 1993, Mrs. Atherden was General Manager at Appleby Spurling & Kempe and, prior to that, she served as Director of Finance for the Bermuda Hospitals Board.
Gerald Brady, Managing Director, Dublin. Mr. Brady served in various capacities in KPMG in Dublin before moving to Bermuda in 1986 to take up the position of Head of Internal Audit of the Bank. In 1990, he moved to the Cayman Island as Managing Director of Bank of Bermuda (Cayman) Limited and Bermuda Trust (Cayman) Limited. In 1995, Mr. Brady returned to Dublin as the Managing Director of the Bank's Irish Operations.
David Carrick, Head of Financial Reporting. Mr. Carrick joined the Bank in 1999 as Financial Controller. Prior to that, he served as Controller with Bacardi Capital Ltd. for two years and Audit Manager with KPMG, Bermuda. He is a member of the Bank's Risk Management Committee and Strategic Planning Committee. Mr. Carrick is British and is married to a Bermudian.
Judy Doidge, Corporate Secretary. Mrs. Doidge, a Bermudian, has been employed at the Bank of Bermuda since l971, serving in numerous capacities in the Investments and Corporate Administration areas. She was appointed Vice President, Corporate Secretary in December, l997.

Francis Needham, Head of Audit. Mr. Needham joined the Bank of Bermuda in 1997 as Chief Internal Auditor. He has spent twenty-two years in internal audit notably with Manufacturers Hanover and Foreign & Colonial Group. Mr. Needham is a member of the Bank's Risk Management Committee. He holds MIIA and FIIA qualifications.
Alison Satasi, Head of Investor Relations and MIS. Ms. Satasi joined the Bank in July 1996 as Corporate Accounting Manager. She was appointed Head of Investor Relations in 1998 and assumed responsibility for Management Information Systems in 2000. Before joining the Bank, Ms. Satasi was an Audit Manager with KPMG, Bermuda. She is a member of the Bank's Strategic Planning Committee.
David Scholfield, Managing Director, Hong Kong. Mr. Scholfield joined Bank of Bermuda as Managing Director, Hong Kong in May 1998. Prior to that he was with Barings for 16 years, firstly in Hong Kong and subsequently in London. He was appointed Managing Director of Baring Asset Management Hong Kong in 1985. Mr. Scholfield served for 18 years in Royal Scots Dragoon Guards.
Peter Smith, Head of Corporate Communications. Mr. Smith, a Bermudian, joined the Bank in l996 in his present capacity. Prior to that he worked with the Bermuda Department of Tourism for 20 years, latterly as Assistant Director with responsibility for Marketing. Mr. Smith is a member of the Bank's Strategic Planning Committee.
Bruce Woolley, General Counsel. Mr. Woolley joined the Bank in 2000. Prior to joining the Bank he practiced law for 23 years in Canada including previous in-house counsel positions at Expo 86 and Cominco Ltd. He was also General Counsel for British Columbia Enterprise. Most recently Mr. Woolley was in private practice as an associate with the international law firm Stikeman Elliott. He is a member of the Bank's Risk Management Committee.
Commenting on the fact that six of the appointees are resident in Bermuda, of whom three are Bermudian and one is married to a Bermudian, Mr. Smith added, "Given the truly global nature of the Bank's operations, we can be very proud of the strong Bermudian presence on our Executive team."
