In making the announcement Mrs. Lister stated, "Mr. Sutherland, who has been acting as a consultant to the Authority since September 219998, has extensive central banking experience as a result of his 29 years employment with the Bank of England, including 15 years at senior levels in prudential supervision. Since leaving the Bank of England, Mr. Sutherland has undertaken a wide range of projects internationally, as an independent consultant dealing with banking supervision and wholesale markets regulation. These included reviewing the banking supervision arrangements in the Crown Dependencies on behalf of the UK Government, as part of the recent Edwards Review.
Mr. Sutherland's experience and expertise in supervision and regulation will be very beneficial to the Authority and Bermuda as we continue to update our financial services regulation in line with international standards."
Mr. Sutherland who is married with two adult children will be relocating to Bermuda in early July.
