today announced the approval of Voyager Financial Services Ltd. as its first Listing Sponsor.
The BSX last week announced that companies could become Listing Sponsors of The BSX under a new membership category approved by the Bermuda Monetary Authority. As the first approved Listing Sponsor, Voyager has the ability to sponsor applications for new listings of mutual funds, Eurobonds, depository receipts, and secondary listings.
Voyager Financial Services Ltd. was incorporated in Bermuda in August this year as an exempted company specialising in the establishment of mutual funds. Voyager provides fund start-up services and advisory services to investment managers and fund sponsors on the structuring and market positioning of collective investment products.
"We are very pleased to become a Listing Sponsor and through our niche services, help The BSX position itself as a leading international stock exchange," said Paul Lemmon, Managing Director of Voyager. "We believe we will also be able to provide substantial benefit to Bermuda and its various service providers through our introduction of new business to Bermuda and The BSX. We are currently working on 10 new listing applications."
"The Exchange is delighted to have Voyager as our first Listing Sponsor," said William Woods, Chief Executive Officer of The BSX. "The quick response by Voyager in joining The BSX as a Listing Sponsor demonstrates the appeal of listing mutual funds as well as the strength of The BSX as the ideal exchange for the listing of funds."
The BSX announced last week it had surpassed the 100 mark in offshore fund listings. There are now 105 listed funds, making The BSX one of the world's fastest growing offshore exchanges for mutual fund listings.
The Listing Sponsor category is aimed at law firms, accounting firms, fund managers, trust companies and other service providers. Listing Sponsors are entitled to sponsor new listings, excluding primary listings, which are the sole domain of the Trading Members. Listing Sponsors do not have trading privileges on the Exchange.
