Mr. Beale, who was formerly Managing Director of Santander Investment Securities, Inc. based in New York and Madrid, will be responsible for XL's human resource policies. Reporting to Fiona Luck, Executive Vice President, Group Operations, he will work closely with XL's senior management.

Prior to joining Santander Investment Securities, Mr. Beale spent more than 20 years with J.P. Morgan & Company, Inc. He became a Managing Director and Member of its European Management Committee based in London, where he was responsible for all J.P. Morgan's HR activities in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
