XL Capital Ltd. Launches New Website

HAMILTON, BERMUDA (July 16, 2001) -- XL Capital Ltd (NYSE: XL) ("XL") today announced the re-launch of its web site: www.xlcapital.com. The site provides information about XL, its global subsidiaries and their products and services and is designed to take visitors to XL people, products and office locations around the world.

Key features of the new site include:

· A dynamic Investor Info section, with interactive stock charts, multimedia presentations, e-mail alerts for breaking news, detailed financial fundamentals, webcast and audio archives, event calendar, First Call estimates and more.

· Solution Finder, a customized aspect of the site providing instant information on each of the products offered by XL's companies, including detailed information about features, limits and attachments as well as regions and customer groups served.

· The Impossible Risk tool, which is designed to help connect those customers and brokers with difficult or hard to place risks with the appropriate XL company or underwriting division.

· A Customer Center, which provides tools to help assess and manage risks. This section offers insurance, reinsurance and financial case studies, large loss information, useful links and key publications. XL expects to offer business risk features, risk prevention strategies and monthly customer feature articles in the near future.

· The Career Center, designed to assist prospective employees in learning more about becoming an XL team member. The Center features an online resume submission facility, an interactive €˜Meet an XL Employee' facility, and FAQ's about the XL Capital group.

· XL - worldwide - a comprehensive, searchable listing of XL's 60 offices in 5 regions of the world.

Developed in conjunction with XL's media lab, the new site was designed by Extraprise Inc., an international technology services firm based in Boston, Mass.
